Toilet Paper Spectacular

by nicke on July 5, 2009

This is really simply the most amazing skill- this girl deserves a design internship- much more than the $1,000 that she did win from Cheap Chic Weddings contest.  This dress is ENTIRELY made with toilet paper, tape and glue.  I mean thats f’n amazing.  Look at the oragami details at the bottom of the dress- the various textures- the sweetheart neck line!Toilet Paper Wedding Dress

Congrats to First place winner Ann Kagawa Lee!!  Inspirations are Gone with the Wind and Origami.

Leather and Hair

by nicke on July 4, 2009

While everyone is going crazy over V Magazines Cameron Diaz pics V is doing some fucken sexy things all throughout the mag.  With photos by  Mario Testino and styling by Beat Boliger this model looks hawttttt in her leather cothes and huge hair.  V Mag

Luv it when mags arent afraid to go couture in not only what they put the girls in but how they capture them. Don’t play it simple- u know victoria beckham would support this look.

I am in love with the Givenchy Haute Couture push up non bra (actually a body suit).

Jewelry Mecca

by nicke on July 2, 2009

What boutique pieces with name brand quality- in jewelry?  Then you go to Kabiri in London.  The top emerging jewelry designers on the globe premiere in this store.  Located in London’s Covent Garden it’s the one place jewelry-philia must take a pilgrimage to.  Some you may have heard of like Rachel Leigh- others like Mirit Weinstock may be a bit more unique to you.

Carla Shanks

Some pieces are art.  Some pieces are flashbacks.  All are worth the hours you’ll spend browsing the site.

Stand Tall

by nicke on July 2, 2009

Georgina Goodman- European shoe and accessories designer- knows how to make the average into art.  She isn’t too over the top, she is a little obscure, and she is completely European.

Piccadilly

With a background in Fashion magazines ID and Elle, in 2001 Goodman went back to school to study Womans footwear and by 2003 she had her first ready to wear foot collection.  With a day from 6:45am -11:00pm, she is on top of her game.  Still mainly in the European markets she sill has a whole lot of world to connect to.  Now that’s an high heal with some big steps to take.

Candy to Wear Touching Bare Skin

by nicke on June 30, 2009

CDFA 2006 fashion designer of the year Tom Binn’s creates jewelry that is meant to be played with, teased and treasured.  From Couture lines to “Faux Real” he spreads the spectrum.  While most pieces are classic- Mr. Binns has a way of turning Classic into something tasty.  Binn has caught the attention of even the Los Angeles Times by gracing Hollywood A listers.   While the LA Times  may call Binn’s look “trashing treasures,” it’s not trashing at all.  He dares his audience to try new things, don’t do what is expected, taste the rainbow….

Subtly may not be his strong point, but pearls sure are.

The Most Important First

by nicke on June 29, 2009

I wanted to start with the greatest.  The arguably the most important fashion house.   The Great Chanel starting with the visionary Gabriel “Coco” Chanel.  When starting her line Coco did not go with wild new looks- she went back to the basics- and made them into pieces you could own for a lifetime.  With class, elegance and originality Coco ran the Chanel fashion house from 1907 till her death in 1971.

CocoChanel

With her signature scent, purse, and suit the line has fast forwarded  to 2009 with Karl Lagerfield bringing the classic with the new (HIS signature leather  gloves)

A name so widely known that you can’t find one person who would not recognize the fashion power house.  Try little girls with their Barbies, or currently the most flamboyant actor in Hollywood, even cartoons like the Simpsons want in on the beauty of Chanel.
